This Festival Celebrated all over India, commemorates the Killing of Ten Headed King Ravana By Rama, symbolizing the victory of good over the evil. Burning of enormous effigies of Ravana and his Brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad filled with firecrackers marks a spectacular climax to the ten days of play [Ramilia] portraying the principal episodes of the great epic Ramayana. Dussehra in Kota is the beginning of festive Period when people here from all over villages and towns gather to offer prayers to Lord Rama. Temporary markets & Shopping arcades emerge from nowhere resulting in brisk trading. The Whole festivals lasting about a fortnight takes on the form of big carnival. Artists from all over the country are invited to participate in cultural programme. For Rajputs, the festivals are with a special significance, those great warriors at this time pay homage to Goddess of Battle – Durga.
Due to its martial connotations, the festival is very special to the Rajputs. The Celebrations of Dusshera closes the ceremonies of Navratri and special adulation is rendred to royal arms, shields, daggers & Knives as well as to the regalia and emblems of sovereignty, such as the throne [Royal Gaddi].
